Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Information Leaked – 16 vs 16 Matches?
Modern Warfare 3 just can’t catch a break. It doesn’t matter how hard the employees try, somehow information about the game gets in the wrong hands. Remember the massive Modern Warfare 3 leak back in May? Remember Robert Bowling saying:
A lot of hype & a lot of leaked info on Modern Warfare 3, some still accurate, some not. To avoid spoiling the experience, I’d wait for the real reveal.
The reveal will come on September 2nd and 3rd but 1 person couldn’t wait that long and decided to break into the Call of Duty XP compound in Los Angeles and capture some multiplayer information on video.
It was really impossible to get here (to Call of Duty XP area) at night, ’cause there are a lot of guards because there are a lot of XBOXes, and by the end of this video we were spotted, and hardly ran away.
The YouTube video showing the culprit browsing the menus of the version of Modern Warfare 3 that will be playable at Activision’s upcoming Call of Duty XP event has been taken down because of Activision’s copyright claim, but the damage was already done. (You can still see the video here)
The video showed a couple interesting things. The first one being a new game mode called “Bomb”. It has to be the new game mode Michael Condrey, Co-Founder of Sledgehammer Games, was referring to in his interview with GameTrailers at the E3 Expo. What exactly this new game mode will be, we don’t know.
The second interesting bit of information are the names of some of the multiplayer maps. In the Kotaku leak, we saw 20 multiplayer maps and 13 of those maps showed up in the video the culprit shared. The white names are the names we saw in the Kotaku leak, the red names are from the recent leak. It does add up.

The last and most interesting part of the video, at least for me, is the part where you can see that some matches will allow up to 32 players. In previous Call of Duty games, the most was 18 players. The question here is: Is the 16 vs 16 game mode specifically made for the Call of Duty XP event, where players will be playing using a LAN connection and not a PSN or Xbox Live connection. Or is this something that’ll be included in the retail version of the game? I’m hoping for the latter.
A lot of information about Modern Warfare 3 has already leaked and let’s just hope it doesn’t get worse. I mean, several retail discs of Black Ops were stolen a month before the official release. We don’t want that to happen to Modern Warfare 3 now, do we?
