Modern Warfare 3 Has “Exceeded Every Internal Milestone”
Activision CEO, Eric Hirshberg, was rather busy at the company’s investors call yesterday but hardly touched upon (the all but confirmed) Modern Warfare 3. What he did mention though was both inspiring and curiosity striking. For the past five years the Call of Duty franchise has been one of the biggest franchises in the world and each corresponding year either sales or playtime records are broken. It is a no brainer that the next Call of Duty game is looking to beat its predecessors in both of those categories. But not just beat the previous Call of Duty games…“set a new standard in the franchise.”
Mr. Hirshberg went on to praise the condition of (most likely) Modern Warfare 3 in its developmental state. “The creative excellence and sheer scale of the game we are making, and the unprecedented online universe that will accompany it will re-set the bar for this genre, giving players a new level of emersion, connectivity, community and of course epic action. The game to date has exceeded every internal milestone and we look forward to showing it to sharing it with you soon.”
Once the compliments and grander were over Hirshberg went on to say something that should make many gamers happy. Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer Games/Raven Software is taking advantage of the money the Call of Duty name has earned (which numbers in the billions) and using it to make Modern Warfare 3 an “experience to an entirely new level.” With the success of the previous two Call of Duty games (minus their online problems), that statement is unbelievable to hear.
