Massive Amount of Modern Warfare 3 Information Leaked *SPOILER*

Before I start with the article, please note that some of this information is accurate and some of it isn’t. Infinity Ward Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, had the following to say:

A lot of hype & a lot of leaked info on #MW3, some still accurate, some not. To avoid spoiling the experience, I’d wait for the real reveal.

SPOILER ALERT – SINGLE PLAYER SPOILERS FOLLOW

Earlier today Gaming website Kotaku revealed a ton of information about Modern Warfare 3 and while some of this information is accurate right now, things can change between now and November 8th. Why November 8th you ask? Well, that is the Modern Warfare 3 release date.

What Kotaku reveals on their website is just too much for us to go into much details, so I’ll try to share what’s important to us. If you much rather see and read everyone for yourself, head over to Kotaku’s website.

The Campaign Settings of Modern Warfare 3
Modern Warfare 3 CampaignModern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2. Meaning Modern Warfare 3 continues where Modern Warfare 2 left. Modern Warfare 3 opens with “The United States under siege by Russian forces, ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov on the loose, Captain John “Soap” MacTavish and Captain John Price wounded and on the run with the Russian informant known as Nikolai.”

During the final mission of the game, which will occur in Dubai, you will finally find Makarov and kill him. With Makarov dead, you’d think the Modern Warfare series would come to an end, but Kotaku writes “a story that ties up nearly all loose ends from previous titles, including the final moments of key figures in the series’ history.” I find it interesting that nearly all loose ends get tied up. One would think this is done on purpose to keep the possibility for a Modern Warfare 4 open…

During the single player campaign, you will find yourself in the following locations:

  • Dharamsala, India
  • New York, New York
  • A plane transporting the president of Russia
  • A town in Sierra Leone
  • London, England
  • Mogadishu, Somalia
  • Hamburg, Germany
  • Paris, France
  • Prague, Czech Republic
  • A castle in the Czech mountains
  • Berlin, Germany
  • The Kremlin in Moscow, Russia
  • Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  • Washington. D.C.
  • New York, New York
  • A plane transporting the president of Russia
  • A town in Sierra Leone
  • London, England
  • Mogadishu, Somalia
  • Hamburg, Germany
  • Paris, France
  • Prague, Czech Republic
  • A castle in the Czech mountains
  • Berlin, Germany
  • The Kremlin in Moscow, Russia
  • Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Final scene)
  • Washington. D.C. (Post-credit scene)

The Multiplayer Settings of Modern Warfare 3

There were some rumors that Modern Warfare 3 would include the Zombie mode, made famous by Treyarch. Good thing rumors are not facts and this rumor turns out to be false.

Infinity Ward’s baby is the Spec Ops mode and you will see it makes its return in Modern Warfare 3.  The Spec Ops mode in Modern Warfare 3 will include these 7 missions:

  • Civilian Rescue
  • Flood the Market
  • Invisible Threat
  • Little Bro’s
  • Out of Africa
  • No Fly Zone
  • Wing Man

As a player I wouldn’t accept it if the developers of Modern Warfare 3 just used the same game mode as in Modern Warfare 2. The developers agree with this and included a new game mode within the Spec Ops mode. It’s called Survival. Kotaku says “the survival maps will have players fighting until they’re overcome by increasingly difficult waves of enemies”. The Survival mode will take place on these maps:

  • Carbon
  • Dome
  • Radar
  • Seatown
  • Village

Modern Warfare 3 CharactersFinally, we’re at the part of the game which most of us look forward to. The Multiplayer mode. Once again according to Kotaku, the multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare 3 will include 20 maps. We’re not sure whether these will be the final 20 maps. It’s possible that some of the maps will be cancelled or perhaps some of these maps will comes to us in the form of Map Packs. As it stands now, these will be the maps which will be available to us:

  • Alpha
  • Alps
  • Bootleg
  • Bravo
  • Brooklyn
  • Carbon
  • Coast
  • Dome
  • Exchange
  • Hardhat
  • Interchange
  • Lambeth
  • Meteora
  • Mogadishu
  • Paris
  • Plaza 2
  • Radar
  • Seatown
  • Underground
  • Village

We’re still nearly 6 months removed from the official release of Modern Warfare 3 and a lot can happen in the meantime. Maps can be added, altered or cancelled. The storyline may change. You never know. We will find out in roughly 6 moths. I’m curious how much of this information will be confirmed at Activision’s Pre-E3 conference and at the E3 Expo.
