EA: Battlefield 3 More Superior Than Modern Warfare 3
With EA releasing the much anticipated Battlefield 3 this October (25) and Activision releasing the also much anticipated Modern warfare 3 in November (8) it’s common knowledge that both companies will bump heads the closer it comes to the end of the year. Though Activision has been quiet when it comes to slandering their new genre rivals, EA CEO John Riccitiello took a different approach and came out swinging.
CEO John Riccitiello sat down with CNBC recently and had a few words about what he called “a major battle” between Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. He put out there that EA are intentionally pitting Battlefield 3 against the competition because he simply thinks it’s better and can’t be beaten. Big words to say considering Call of Duty’s track record.
John Riccitiello stated:
I could have pulled our game and moved it into August or January. I picked their launch window, on purpose, because, side-by-side, our game is better in so many ways. The simple reality is, they’re working on a game engine that’s multiple years old, and they’ve been adding to it and adding to it and adding to it,” Riccitiello said. “We’ve invested the last four years of our time, energy and capital resources to build something brand new from the ground up that’s frankly superior. Whether its looking at the animations, the gameplay, the scale of the world, it’s a better product. I’m really looking forward to the competition.
It’s been a while since any game of the first person shooter genre has showed their intent to knock Call of Duty off it’s throne but EA seem to think this year they have the game that can. Maybe the video’s below can shed light on the situation.
