Next Call of Duty Being Made By Sledgehammer Games?
With Infinity Ward off the bandwagon and Treyarch still nurturing Black Ops, many have questioned who will and how will the next Call of Duty be made which is rumored to be slated for late 2011. Well the question has seemingly been answered thanks to a job posting on Gamasutra. It states “Sledgehammer Games is actively recruiting top industry talent to join the Call of Duty FPS development team”.
Did we just read that correctly? Sledgehammer Games (@SHGames), which was formed by Activision in 2009, is making the next Call of Duty iteration? As unlikely as this posting appears, it’s doubtful that a company would false advertise on a real website. So the only question now is will this new Call of Duty be Modern Warfare 3? It is highly doubtful and the idea that Sledgehammer Games will make their own sub-series seems to make more sense.
But wait that’s not all! Upon closer inspection of the job description it says “Sledgehammer Games, headed by industry veterans Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey”. These brilliant minds are behind the Dead Space series and Dead Space is arguably one of the best sci-fi shooters around (Did we mention the sequel, Dead Space 2, is coming out later this month?). So it’s safe to say that the Call of Duty series seems to be in good hands. Now if they can only do something about all those BS online problems!
