Call of Duty Gamers Call for 24 Hour Blackout Protest
It wouldn’t be a casual year in the Call of Duty franchise unless somebody is complaining about something, am I right? This time though gamers wan’t to be heard loud and clear in a video released on YouTube which calls for a 24 blackout of Modern Warfare 3 on April 20th.
In the video, gamers who at the moment are finding Modern Warfare 3 neglected on the support side, have asked the massive base of Call of Duty players to join them in a 24 hour blackout protest. They hope this blackout will get publisher Activision and the games developers Infinity Ward to notice the problems in-game and implement a fix.
In the video they list out a range of problems and features they want removed from the game and some they wan’t added, they include:
- More Hardcore game modes.
- Matchmaking options that allow the ability to disable or enable local search and base search off the party leader while playing with friends.
- Fix the broken Spawn system.
- Full featured Theatre Mode.
- Individual volume control in the options menu.
- Removal of Deathstreaks.
- Removal of all assault killstreaks from Support Package.
- Akimbo machine gun nerf.
- Tac-insertion removed from Kill Confirmed.
- Lag Compensation
The video seems well thought out, almost a mirror of how well known hacker group “Anonymous” product their videos, with the ending tagline, “We are the community. We are Call of Duty. And we will not be denied.”
The game is still very playable though, as gamers who are trying to rally troops for this movement would simply take the old-school route and just not buy the next product down the line if the game was completely broken. Either way this blackout is happening, it’s really down to how many people join the cause if anything at all really can be changed.
