Modern Warfare 2 Security Patch Live on Xbox 360
Remember when Infinity Ward’s Community Manager said that a security patch for Modern Warfare 2 was in the works? You might not remember this because Mr. Bowling said this on February 8th.
Since then a quite few things happened and the security patch went live on the PS3 on March 8th. If you can want to believe the PS3 players, this patch got rid of the majority of the hacking and made Modern Warfare 2 playable once again.
Because this patch went live only on the PS3, you as a Xbox 360 player might have missed out on this news or just didn’t care about it at the time. Well, things are going to change for you and you are going to care about it as this security patch went live on the Xbox 360 earlier today. Mr. Bowling hasn’t given us an update about security patch yet, but knowing Mr Bowling he’ll tweet about and he’ll update the Infinity Ward forum thread when the time comes.
After checking with @EliteKnight92 we came to a conclusion that the security patch worked as intended and the hacks / mods were removed from the game. Thanks to the security patch you can once again enjoy Modern Warfare 2 without any hackers or modders.
Infinity Ward even fixed the bug on Fuel where you could hide in the rock. After watching this video, I’m sure you’ll think twice about abusing this bug again.
Now that the security patch is live on the Xbox 360 and PS3, the PC is the only platform left without this patch. I want to wish Infinity Ward good luck with the security patch for the PC as it is a hell of a lot harder to patch PC games.
As for Xbox 360 players, what do you think of this patch? Is it what you hoped it would be?
