Beware of Modern Warfare 2 Phishing Attempts!
To those who turn a blind eye to Xbox Live’s status messages, you picked the wrong time to do it if you are a Modern Warfare 2 gamer. It seems that the PlayStation Network isn’t the only online component struggling (no matter how little) with hackers. The meat of the pivotal status message is as follows. “Users may receive potential phishing attempts via title specific messaging while playing Modern Warfare 2.”
Now for the ill-informed the online act of “phishing” isn’t taking your merry little self down to a pond and try to catch a critter. This phishing refers to an act played out by a person who is attempting to gain another one’s personal information by posing as someone they’re not. This basically sums up into two parts. 1.) Don’t trust or even read any message from someone you don’t know while playing Modern Warfare 2. 2.) Don’t give away any of your personal information to ANYONE asking it…even friends.
Microsoft has said they are working on the issue but haven’t given a tentative date for when a patch or fix will be implemented. In the meantime why don’t you go play Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3, o wait, that’s right…
