Call of Duty Elite Has 1 Million Premium Members in 6 Days
Activision has announced to the gaming world that their stat-tracking platform Call of Duty Elite has reached 1 million premium members, an achievement they only reached in six days. Not only that, it’s also known that the platform has 4 million registered users, way over what Activision expected for Elite.
Activision are delighted with the short period of time it took to reach 1 million premium users, compared to other premium services like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Sirius XM and Xbox Live which took at least a year to reach that target. Activision also said that 80,000 clans have being created on the platform and over 100,000 user generated videos have being uploaded to the service. Even though the service had very public launch problems, at least 3 million people login into the service daily.
The audience response to Call of Duty Elite’s premium service has been beyond our expectations, and we want to thank Call of Duty players around the world for their unprecedented enthusiasm,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “The number of gamers who have registered for Call of Duty Elite further illustrates how this service is poised to redefine social gaming and set a new bar for interactive entertainment.
Eric Hirshberg the CEO of Activision Publishing mentioned the recent launch problems and said thanks to gamers for their patience in the matter. He also stated:
I’m very pleased to announce today that the service is now performing stably and anyone who wants to try Call of Duty Elite is now able to do so. Due to the scaling challenges we encountered at launch, we are giving all Call of Duty Elite premium Founder members an additional 30 days of the service free of charge.
Call of Duty fans must have faith in Activision for waiting so long to finally get their hands on Elite and it seems that they have pulled through and the worst is behind them, hopefully Elite will be fully functional from now on. Activision have planned for a relaunch of the service and is expected by December 1.
