Call of Duty XP – $1 Million Tournament
From the 2nd to the 3rd of September during labor day weekend Call of Duty fans will be able to attend Call of Duty XP. The event which will be held in a 12-acre compound in Los Angeles and will host more than 6,000 fans, the location in Los Angeles and specific event hours will be released on July 12th. Call of Duty XP will give the public the chance to be the first to witness the world premiere Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer and hands on time with the new Spec Ops Survival mode the game has to offer.
Call of Duty Elite will also be in the spotlight as Activision will fully reveal the part subscription social service. If that’s not enough also people will have a chance to enter a $1 million dollar (cash and prizes) Call of Duty tournament by Activision and the event’s lead sponsor Microsoft Xbox 360. There will still be a heap of other competitions attendee’s can enter and win a range of prizes.
Eric Hirshberg, chief executive of Activision Publishing, a division of Activision Blizzard said the event will be the most realistic Call of Duty experience ever, happily calling it “CODCon”. The public can have a paintball battle in a area similar to the Modern Warfare 2 Scrapyard map, also take on a real version of The Pit, a spec ops mission also from Modern Warfare 2. All and all there is something for everyone at the upcoming event.
Tickets for the event will be priced at $150 for a two day pass with 100% of the ticket sales going to the Call of Duty Endowment a non-profit organization which seeks to help veterans find work and establish careers as they transition back to civilian life. The tickets give the attendee allowance for all it has to offer and even a goody bag to take home. Unfortunately the event is for 18 years old and over only which might disappoint a lot of Call of Duty fans.
