Activision Set to Show Next-Gen Game Engine at GDC
Every Call of Duty gamer has their own pet peeves with the popular shooter, some range higher than others, with weapon balancing and lag topping the list. One other aspect gamers have been vocal about is the game engine used for the series, the IW Engine which has been repeatedly upgraded and altered with every yearly release.
The days of ranting may come to an end in the future, with Jorge Jimenez, real-time graphics R&D at Activision Blizzard stating in a recent blog post that a 60 minute presentation will go ahead at this year’s Game Developers Conference event, showing the rendering side of a next-generation engine the publisher is working on. The presentation will show the rendering side of the engine, mostly focusing on “Photorealistic Eyes Rendering and Deformation”, with the event taking place between March 25th to March 29th.
Could this be the engine Call of Duty will be using when next-generation consoles hit the market? As of now no one knows, we can only speculate, so leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
