Vast Majority PS3 Players Happy With Black Ops
Did the title of this article make you laugh? If you are a PlayStation 3 owner, I’m sure it made most of you laugh.
Josh Olin, Treyarch’s Community Manager and owner of the quote, on the other hand, doesn’t think it’s funny. Not only does he think it’s not funny, he even goes as far as saying:
There’s hundreds of thousands – if not millions – of players on the PS3 who have absolutely perfect, pristine experiences. I talk to them everyday – I see @replies to me on Twitter all the time from people going ‘I don’t know what people are complaining about. The game is perfect for me!’ So they do exist. I know that doesn’t make the people who are experiencing problems feel any better, but it should put it into perspective.
While Treyarch is gaining popularity in the eyes of the fans with David Vonderhaar’s remarks and interviews (take this interview or this interview for example), they lose that popularity with Mr. Olin spouting nonsense. As if Mr. Olin’s previous quote wasn’t enough, in his interview with VideoGamer.com he goes on to says:
The PS3 and the PC issues are not exclusive to the PS3 and PC – the Xbox 360 has had its own fair share of issues. Every platform has issues. It is unfortunate that those [bugs] have to exist at all. In an ideal would we would love to ship a completely bug-proof game. I can’t think of a single developer in the world, though, that could achieve that.
In essence, Josh Olin says nobody is perfect. I can’t argue with that, but what Treyarch has done with Black Ops is far from perfect. At least on the PS3 and PC. You don’t want me to remind you of the countless articles we’ve written about the failures of Treyarch.
There is a good side to all of this and that’s the fact that Treyarch keeps working on improving their game. Treyarch has released six or seven patches within a few months and just recently Treyarch released patch 1.06 for the PC. I must admit I’m getting a fair few positive comments about it. I know it’s not the PS3, but it shows Treyarch is capable of fixing things that matter, so it’s only a matter of time before the freezing, crashing and disconnecting on the PS3 comes to an end.
Until then, keep trying Treyarch and have patience PS3 players!
