1.4 Million First Strike Downloads Within 24 Hours
When the First Strike map pack was first announced on December 20th, people complained about the cost of the map pack. Having to pay 1,200 Microsoft Points or $15 was too much for some of us. But it wasn’t the first time a map pack was priced this high. Both the Modern Warfare 2 map packs (Stimulus and Resurgence) cost 1,200 Microsoft Points and it didn’t stop people from buying the map packs in masses.
The same can be said about the First Strike map pack. Even though it costs 1,200 Microsoft Points, a lot of you bought the map pack. By a lot I mean more than 1.4 million downloads in the first 24 hours of the map pack being available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, setting a new record at the same time. That’s a gross revenue of more than $21 million in just the first 24 hours.
Selling 1.4 million First Strike map packs in a single day on a single console isn’t too shabby right?
