New Black Ops Single Player Map: Kowloon
As all of you know, Activision is going all out for their new game Call of Duty: Black Ops. With Call of Duty being a huge series on a decline, and Halo Reach just coming out, Activision has a lot on their plate. One thing the Call of Duty series has been great at besides Multi-Player is the Campaign. World at Wars Campaign was so cinematic and enjoyable that I played it over and over again. Then came Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The short campaign and lack of storyline didn’t even light a candle to World at War or even Modern Warfare’s story. So Activision has a serious challenge making this series great once again.
This month, Activision has released a plethora of videos and information. A new video just released is about Kowloon, a city in Hong Kong that holds a new Single Player level. The trailer shows many new features including new environments and weapons. The level premise is to secure valuable Intel in the rooftops of Kowloon. You battle Spetsnaz, the Russians from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and find many surprises along the way. Two things I found most interesting were the weapon cache and the slow-motion scene. Caches are nothing new to the Call of Duty series, but in this one you can actually pick up attachments. What does this mean for the rest of Single Player? Will you be able to pick up attachments as well as guns? During the slow-motion scene, you jump from a roof with a pistol and shoot at exploding barrels in slow-motion. That’s a whole heck of a lot better than breeching into a building in slow-motion!
This level is just one of the brilliant campaign additions that Activision has in store. I just can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Christmas can’t come soon enough for me this year!
