Cesar Stastny, PC Lead Call of Duty: Black Ops: “What we’re really trying to do on this title for PC, is to give the PC community the same game that the console guys are getting, but in a way that makes sense for the PC. So the PC won’t have any matchmaking for Multiplayer. It’s a dedicated server and we also support listed servers as well (See here for more details: Black Ops PC: Dedicated Servers With a Catch)
You’ll be able to push play on ranked servers and not have a lot of different options of how those games are run, because they’re pretty much on par with what you get on the console. You can play on unranked servers as well and you can really customize the way those games go.
For example, if you want to play an unranked match with no perks, no killstreaks, shotguns only, snipers only, only headshot kills or one shot kills or you want to change the scoring for the various things you do on the game. You can do all these things.
We have a re-designed server browser, it’s a new tabbed interface, has context menus so you can choose to look at a list of ranked servers or a list of unranked server so you can apply various filtering to the server browser. Say for example you onyl want to see servers with a ping under 50 or that are in a certain location, you only want to see servers that are running this map for this game mode. You can do all these things.
I think it’s going to be a fantastic PC title.”
