Trent Reznor Composing Black Ops 2 Theme Song

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor is no stranger to success in the music industry, after bagging an Oscar for his collaboration with Atticus Ross on “The Social Network” movie soundtrack and recently composing he soundtrack for “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”, his talents are well sought after. It made sense that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 developer Treyarch asked for Reznor’s assistance, with him writing the theme song for the futuristic shooter.

Reznor wont take full control of the games soundtrack however, those duties fall down on Mass Effect 2 composer, Jack Wall. As for the theme song, it is described as an ”aggressive sounding” rock track, which will fit the futuristic setting of the game. “There is a lot of reservation and angst and sense of loss and regret and anger bubbling under the surface,” said Reznor. “So it didn’t make sense to have a gung-ho patriotic feeling kind of theme song. It has to feel weighty.”

Reznor has worked with video games in the past, lending his talents to such games as Quake and Doom, but speaks highly of the Call of Duty franchise, ”I have always looked to that franchise as the cutting edge of what seemingly unlimited budgets and full-on not cutting any corners can do in the current day and age,” he said.

It’s good for any individual to pair themselves with the Call of Duty franchise, being a massive Nine Inch Nails fan, I’l be waiting with bells on to hear the official them song, what about you?
